Dear Humans 14

Dear Grumpy People Behind Me,

I know you’re all big tough city people who just want to get where you’re going.

And so do I.

But the light in front of us was all backed up to the corner of the intersection, so there was no space for any further cars.

And on top of that, cars were coming and going through all of the other streets at our intersection.

Which meant that even after our light turned green, I still couldn’t go safely into the intersection.

So I had to sit at the green light until the light ahead of us cleared.

There was no place for any of us to go even though our light was green, don’t you get that?

Laying on your horns behind me and giving me a panic attack because you’re So Very Important you can’t wait an extra couple of minutes to go through the intersection really wasn’t necessary.

I certainly wasn’t going to block the intersection and possibly get either myself or someone else t-boned because the light ahead of us didn’t clear in time.

There were also a lot of pedestrians crossing because school was letting out, and I didn’t want one of them to get hurt either.

And I was right to wait because the light ahead of us was still backed up even after our light turned red again.

So I may very well have saved someone from getting into an accident and having everything backed up for even longer.

And all I got was a hurting stomach for the entire rest of the ride home because honking horns do that to me.

Is this how superheroes feel when they save someone who doesn’t appreciate it?
